Installation & event safety

Installing lighting for an event isn't just about creating a spectacular effect. For a community, leisure park, festival, shopping mall, façade, shop window or cultural venue, an event lighting installation must reconcile aesthetics, safety, compliance, visitor comfort and ease of operation.

At Leblanc Illuminations, each project is designed to create a powerful visual experience, while respecting the constraints of the site: power supply, fixtures, weather, public traffic, maintenance and dismantling. The objective is simple: to enhance the venue, secure the installation and guarantee a reliable rendering throughout the event. Take a look at our professional backdrops to help you design the perfect installation for your event.

Why secure a professional event lighting installation?

A luminous installation attracts visitors, guides them through the event and enhances the image of a venue. But if poorly prepared, it can become a source of risk: badly positioned cables, electrical overload, connectors exposed to moisture, inadequate fastening or obstacles in a passageway.

Electrical safety is not an obstacle to creativity. On the contrary, it allows us to design more ambitious, more durable and more comfortable light displays for the public.

Before any installation, it's essential to check :

  • traffic areas and emergency exits ;
  • available power supply points
  • mounting brackets;
  • exposure to wind, rain or frost;
  • technical access for maintenance;
  • stability of sets on the ground or in the air.

Designing a safe lighting route for your visitors

Every project begins with an analysis of the location and its objectives. A shopping center will be looking to create photo zones and extend the visit. A communitywill want to enhance its center, its streets or its heritage. A park or festival will need to guide visitors and create a sense of immersion as soon as night falls.

The lighting route needs to be fluid and visible, and ground decorations or illuminated facades need to be positioned to create points of attraction without hindering movement.

A layout plan shows :

  • the location of the backdrops ;
  • cable routing ;
  • set-back areas for photos;
  • fixing or ballasting points;
  • maintenance access points;
  • areas to be protected from the public.

This stage is essential for combining emotion, visual impact and safety.

Choose LED backdrops that are durable, safe and reusable

The choice of products depends on the venue, the duration of the event and the display conditions. An indoor installation, a shopping mall or a shop window will not have the same constraints as an outdoor décor exposed to rain, wind or temperature variations.

For outdoor installations, the protection rating is a key point: IP44 may be suitable for certain sheltered areas, while IP65 is recommended for more exposed settings, depending on the context of use. Connections must remain protected, cables kept out of the way and electrical circuits correctly sized.

Professional LED solutions combine luminous performance, low power consumption and reliability. Reusable, repairable or eco-designed backdrops also enhance the sustainability of the project, particularly for local authorities, shopping malls and seasonal events.

With solutions such as Twinkly Pro, Plug & Light, e-deco, HALTO and Chromex, Leblanc Illuminations supports professionals in the creation of tailor-made, professional lighting displays, adapted to every context.

Safety checklist for professional light shows

Before installation, several points need to be checked:

  • identify the type of site: street, park, façade, shop window, gallery, entrance or public square;
  • identify visitor flows, emergency exits and technical accesses;
  • check available power supplies;
  • check weather conditions;
  • validate mounting brackets;
  • provide the necessary equipment: cables, extension leads, connectors, plates, suspension or ballasting kits;
  • check the condition of sets before installation.

Damaged, incomplete or unsuitable products must not be installed.

During installation, it is also important to check the condition of the cables, avoid cascading power outlets, calculate the power connected to each circuit, and use appropriate protection devices. Decorations must be fixed to the appropriate support: lamppost, facade, wall, ground, tree or existing structure.

After installation, it is advisable to check :

  • fasteners must be tight ;
  • stability of structures ;
  • cable protection;
  • no overheating;
  • scenery is fully lit;
  • animations or programming are working properly;
  • circuit-breaker accessibility.

A visual inspection before the show opens to the public helps to secure the final details.

Use case: lighting projects designed to attract and reassure

A secure installation must never be merely technical. It must also create emotion, making people want to stop, photograph and share the experience.

In Megève, the illumination of the fir tree shows how light and sound can transform an emblematic place into a real collective gathering. This type of project illustrates the importance of an installation designed for emotion, visibility, public safety and flow management.

In Laval, illuminated decorations help to revitalize the city center by creating an attractive route for residents and visitors alike. Illuminations don't just beautify the streets: they encourage people to wander around, enhance the area and support local activity at key times of the year.

These examples show that a successful event lighting installation relies on a balance between scenography, safety, attractiveness and sustainability.

Bring your lighting project to life

A successful lighting installation rests on three pillars: the right decor, safe installation and a scenography designed with the public in mind.

Leblanc Illuminations supports local authorities, shopping centers, parks, cultural venues, brands and event organizers in France, Europe and abroad in the creation of customized, durable and safe professional lighting displays.
